Location
The "Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp" is located in the western part of the well known Serengeti National Park. It is situated under large trees on the banks of a tributary of the Grumeti and is surrounded by two rows of hills. During the great annual migration thousands of wildebeests, zebras and other animals are crossing the grassy plains of the Grumeti. In the water of the branch hippos and crocodiles found their home. Further more you can watch the black and white scut monkey. There are daily flights from Arusha Airport to the Grumeti airstrip, from where it takes about 10 minutes drive to the lodge. With a little luck you will already see some animals during the transfer.
Rooms and suites
The colorfully decorated main area of the lodge offers beautiful sitting areas and open spaces, which are all designed to offer you a wonderful view of the river. The camp also has a pool, from which hippos can often be seen bathing in the river. As a guest, you live in traditionally styled, colorful tents, which are protected against the sun by reed roofs. The spacious tents are furnished with brightly decorated beds, which were made of Tanzanian cypress wood. A further feature is the private bathroom with outdoor shower and separate toilet. Each tent is built on a wooden platform and is equipped with a fan and a veranda offering a beautiful view of the river and the hippo pool.
Culinary
Meals are served in the restaurant or in the boma under the wide sky. The kitchen serves pan-African as well as traditional food cooked in stone ovens.
Active
Tours are offered twice daily in a Land Rover and accompanied by an experienced ranger. The savannah and forested areas of the Serengeti offer the greatest number of wild animals worldwide. The game drives are held early in the morning and afternoon / evening. The atmosphere of the Serengeti can be enjoyed especially good by having a sundowner on the hills of Kirawira. There is also the possibility of taking part at an early morning balloon safari trip.
Further Information
Children of all ages are welcome. For safety reasons no children under six years can participate in the Game drives. The special children's program of the & BEYOND "Planet Manager" offers fun and entertainment for younger guests. Further more a babysitting service is available.
